"I am a first generation college student. Before I knew anything about colleges, the requirements to get in, how to apply, or where I would be interested in going, I knew college was my dream after high school. I met Mr. Williams when I was going into my junior year of high school. Every since this event,I feel my life has been impacted in ways I can't fully put into words. From the lessons on how to treat others, how to work in groups, or even personal lessons on how to take care of myself in stressful situations, he has been behind it all. By far the greatest achievement I got from these lessons is getting into college. The lessons created, the person who applied and Mr. Williams was there every step of the way. I’d text or call about letters of recommendation (which he ultimately made me write myself because he says who can praise you like yourself), understanding my financial aid award letters), and most importantly my personal statements. My personal statement started out pretty general but he made it clear excellence was a standard I must uphold. Now here I am today, at the end of my freshman year and I don’t know where I’d be without my “my personal advisor” I call him. From help picking a schedule that is right for me, how to time manage, and navigate conflicts that every college student somehow finds themselves in. I know for a fact college graduation is inevitable and now, as he says, is not time to quit. Now there are only 6 more semesters of college to go."
